ABOUT

Peak Quantum is a Munich-based deep-tech startup building inherently error-protected superconducting quantum processors. Spun off in 2024 from the Walther-Meissner-Institute at the Technical University of Munich, the team combines world-class nanofabrication expertise with a fundamentally different chip architecture: Peak Quantum's processors implement error protection at the hardware level, reducing the overhead that makes today's quantum computers impractical to scale. The company designs and fabricates their chips in-house in Garching, operating Europe's first quantum chip pilot line under the EU Chips Act.

Why we invested

Peak Quantum is a strong fit with the United Founders thesis: backing world-class technical teams that turn deep science into scalable, real-world systems. Quantum is a force multiplier across industries from drug discovery and advanced materials to energy systems, fusion control, and large-scale optimization, and in this space the winner will be the one that can ship, not just theorize. This conviction is reinforced by a world-class team from TUM and the Walther-Meißner-Institute, and a strong execution capability.

Europe does not lack talent or scientific excellence. What it lacks is the willingness to back deep tech with the speed and conviction the market demands. United Founders brings exactly that, capital and operational expertise from founders who have built companies themselves, moving at a pace that matches the urgency of the problem. That alignment made the decision easy.
